FAQ
Questions carriers ask
Straight answers on how dispatching works at Quick Link Trucking. If your question isn't here, call or text — we're happy to talk it through.
What does a truck dispatching company do?
A dispatcher handles the business side of keeping a truck loaded. At Quick Link Trucking that means sourcing freight that fits your equipment and lanes, negotiating rates with brokers, planning your loads back to back, coordinating with brokers, shippers and receivers, keeping the dispatch paperwork organized, and being available for support around the clock.
How does dispatching work for owner-operators?
You keep your own authority and run your own business. We work as your back office: we find loads, make the broker calls, negotiate rates and handle the coordination and paperwork. You approve the loads and drive. It's the office side of the operation, without you having to be in two places at once.
Can a dispatching company help a small fleet?
Yes. For a small fleet we organize loads across your trucks, keep drivers coordinated and handle the broker communication and documents for each run. It lets you add dispatch capacity without hiring and managing a full in-house desk.
What information do I need to get started?
To start, just tell us what you drive, where you like to run and your goals. For onboarding we'll usually ask for your MC authority documentation, a certificate of insurance and a W-9, plus any other carrier documents that apply to your operation. We confirm the exact list with each carrier and explain how to send documents securely — please don't send them through the website form.
How are loads selected and approved?
We search for freight that matches your equipment, lanes and rate, then bring you the options. You decide which loads to run. The final call on every load stays with you — we book nothing you haven't approved.
What types of trucks and trailers do you dispatch?
We dispatch dry vans, reefers, flatbeds and step decks, power only, box trucks and hotshots. If you're not sure where your setup fits, call or text us and we'll talk it through.
How are rates and dispatch fees determined?
Our dispatching fees typically range from 4% to 8%, depending on your equipment and dispatching needs. Contact us to discuss the rate applicable to your operation.
How do you handle broker communication and paperwork?
Once a load is booked we set up appointments, send check calls and stay in front of the broker, shipper and receiver through delivery. We also help prepare and track the paperwork each load needs — rate confirmations, carrier-setup packets and bills of lading — and keep it organized so you have what you need to deliver and get paid.
What happens after a load is delivered?
We help make sure the delivery paperwork is in order and close out the load, then move you onto the next one we've planned. Your billing and payment arrangements stay entirely in your hands; we keep the freight and the documents moving.
Do I need a dispatcher near me?
No. We're based in Austin, Texas and dispatch carriers in all 48 contiguous states remotely, by phone and text. Where you're based doesn't limit the lanes we can work for you.
